WHERE IS SPRINGFIELD WORKSHOP LOCATED AND WHO OPERATES THIS FACILITY?

The 65,000 square foot facility is located at 2835 West Bennett in Springfield, MO and is governed by a 15 member board of directors. Daily operation is overseen by the workshop manager.

WHAT ADVANTAGE DOES THE WORKSHOP OFFER THE COMMUNITY?

Springfield Workshop is a sheltered workshop, certified by the state of Missouri. It is the ONLY employment opportunity for most of its workers. Being able to work and earn a paycheck has tremendous impact on the disabled individual, his family, and the community as a whole.

WHO MAY BE EMPLOYED BY THE SPRINGFIELD WORKSHOP?

Disabled men and women who have been certified through the Missouri Division of Vocational Rehabilitation, as “unemployable” in the competitive job market are eligible.

HOW MANY DISABLED WORKERS ARE EMPLOYED AT SPRINGFIELD WORKSHOP?

The workshop now employs over 200 people.

WHAT IS THE PURPOSE OF THE ENDOWMENT CAMPAIGN AND HOW WILL IT BE CONDUCTED?

The endowment program was established as added insurance for the continuance of this remarkable employment program for people with disabilities. As one of the top workshops in Missouri, we must maintain a quality environment to serve our employees with developmental disabilities and secure the future of SWI.

HOW CAN I PARTICIPATE IN THE CAMPAIGN?

There are many gift and investment opportunities for individuals, families, and businesses. You may wish to use your gift to permanently honor your name, a business, a loved one, or a friend. Contact our office for more information.

HOW MAY I PAY MY GIFT-INVESTMENT?

Gift-investment may be paid annually, semi-annually, quarterly, or even monthly over a three to five year period.

MAY I GIVE STOCKS OR REAL ESTATE?

Yes. If they have appreciated in value, there is a dual tax advantage. You may deduct the present market value from your income tax and avoid paying a capital gains tax.

CAN GIFTS IN KIND BE PLEDGED TO THE WORKSHOP?

Yes. Gifts of kind such as lumber, building, paving and landscaping material, labor and other services are welcome. These gifts also have tax advantages.

ARE GIFTS TAX-DEDUCTIBLE?

Yes. Subject to maximum deduction allowed individuals or corporations by the Internal Revenue Service. There are also additional tax credits available to businesses.
